Nyumbani Diagnostic Laboratory

Nyumbani operates a state-of-the-art laboratory.

Through generous support from donors around the world, we opened our world-class Nyumbani Diagnostic Laboratory in 2011. A modern, internationally accredited laboratory gives Nyumbani scientists and medical staff high-tech tools to better diagnose and treat Kenya’s HIV/AIDS patients. The on-site laboratory allows more accurate and faster HIV/AIDS diagnosis and testing.

Diagnostic capabilities now include:
HIV counseling and testing
HIV drug resistance (genetic analyzer)
HIV viral load
Immunology testing
Hematology
Microbiology and parasitology
Serology
Clinical chemistry
Histopathology
Molecular biology

The Nyumbani Diagnostic Laboratory is open six days a week, with services through the main laboratory, as well as an on-call medical sample courier service. Clients range from private hospital laboratories, international NGOs and research institutions, to community-based health care programs in Kenya. We also serve walk-in clients.

Our quality management system ensures we continue our top health, safety, and environmental record, and professional services. This has driven us to be ISO 15189:2012 accredited.
